Patient care at home after illness or surgery

Caregivers for patients of any age recovering at home after surgery, a fracture, a stroke or a long illness.

Patient Care provided at home in Sonarpur, Kolkata by Soendri Nurse & Aya Centre

Recovering at home is usually better for a patient than a long hospital stay, but only if the right help is there. Our patient care service arranges that help for patients of any age recovering after surgery, a fracture, a stroke or a serious illness, in Sonarpur and south Kolkata.

Every recovery is different, so patient care is put together around the patient: an aya for personal care, a nurse for medical tasks, a physiotherapist to rebuild movement, or a combination.

Common recovery situations

  • After surgery: wound care, pain medicines as prescribed, help moving safely
  • After a hip or leg fracture: transfers, toileting, and physiotherapy
  • After a stroke: positioning, feeding support, bedsore prevention and exercises
  • After a long hospital stay: rebuilding strength and a daily routine
  • Recovering from a serious infection: rest, fluids, medicines on time

What caregivers help with

  • Bathing, toileting, dressing and keeping the patient clean
  • Meals and fluids, including soft diets the doctor has advised
  • Medicines on time, and injections or dressings if a nurse is arranged
  • Getting up, walking and exercises set by the physiotherapist
  • Noticing when something is not right and telling the family

How to arrange patient care

  1. Call or WhatsApp +91 90513 20961. Tell us what the patient is recovering from, the discharge advice, and what help they need through the day. The phone is answered around the clock by the people who will actually arrange the caregiver.
  2. We suggest who to send. If what you describe needs a nurse rather than an aya, or an attendant rather than either, we will say so.
  3. Shift and rate are agreed first. Shifts of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 24 hours are available, and you know the cost before anyone is sent.
  4. The caregiver comes to you, often the same day, and we check back to make sure the match is working.

Common questions

We do not know what help we need. Can you advise?

Yes. Describe the patient and the doctor's advice and we will suggest the right mix of aya, nurse or physiotherapy.

Can care be reduced as the patient recovers?

Yes. Families often start with long shifts and move to shorter ones as the patient becomes independent again.

Is patient care only for elderly people?

No. It is for anyone recovering at home. For older patients with ongoing needs, see senior citizen care.
