Home physiotherapy brings the physiotherapist to the patient, which matters when getting to a clinic is difficult or painful. Our physiotherapists visit homes in Sonarpur and south Kolkata to help patients regain movement, strength and independence.
Conditions treated at home
- Recovery after a stroke: movement, balance and walking
- After a knee or hip replacement, or a fracture
- Back pain, neck pain and frozen shoulder
- Arthritis and joint stiffness in older people
- Weakness after a long illness or hospital stay
- Balance problems and a risk of falls
What a home session includes
The physiotherapist assesses the patient, then works through exercises and hands-on treatment suited to the condition. Where it helps, sessions can include electrotherapy such as TENS or ultrasound therapy, using portable equipment: see physiotherapy equipment. The physiotherapist leaves simple exercises for the days in between, which an aya or family member can help with.
How to arrange home physiotherapy
- Call or WhatsApp +91 90513 20961. Tell us the condition, any surgery or scan reports, and how easily the patient can move. The phone is answered around the clock by the people who will actually arrange the caregiver.
- We suggest who to send. If what you describe needs a nurse rather than an aya, or an attendant rather than either, we will say so.
- Shift and rate are agreed first. Shifts of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 24 hours are available, and you know the cost before anyone is sent.
- The caregiver comes to you, often the same day, and we check back to make sure the match is working.
Common questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy?
After surgery or a stroke it is best to follow the treating doctor's advice on when to start. Keep the reports ready for the physiotherapist's first visit.
How many sessions will be needed?
It depends on the condition. The physiotherapist will suggest a plan after the first assessment and review it as the patient improves.
Can physiotherapy be combined with an aya?
Yes, and it often works best that way: the aya helps the patient practise between sessions.
