Our bedridden elderly care at home is for older people who can no longer manage daily life on their own: those who are bedridden, very frail, or living with dementia, Parkinson's disease or the effects of a stroke. It is hands-on personal care, given with patience and respect for the person's dignity.
For older people who are still largely independent, see senior citizen care instead.
What elder care involves
- Bathing, sponge baths, oral care and changing clothes in bed
- Toileting, bedpans and adult diaper changes
- Feeding slowly and safely, watching for choking
- Turning every few hours and keeping skin clean and dry to help prevent bedsores
- Safe transfers from bed to chair or commode
- Keeping a person with dementia calm, oriented and safe from falls or wandering
Night-time and medical needs
Frail elderly people often need help at night too. Our 24-hour aya service covers that. If there are medical needs such as a catheter, a feeding tube, oxygen or bedsores that need dressing, a nurse should visit alongside the caregiver.
How to arrange elder care
- Call or WhatsApp +91 90513 20961. Tell us the person's condition, whether they are bedridden, and whether they need help at night. The phone is answered around the clock by the people who will actually arrange the caregiver.
- We suggest who to send. If what you describe needs a nurse rather than an aya, or an attendant rather than either, we will say so.
- Shift and rate are agreed first. Shifts of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 24 hours are available, and you know the cost before anyone is sent.
- The caregiver comes to you, often the same day, and we check back to make sure the match is working.
Common questions
Do your caregivers have experience with dementia?
Tell us about the person's dementia when you call, and we will send a caregiver used to patients with memory problems and confusion.
How do you help prevent bedsores?
By turning the person regularly, keeping the skin clean and dry, and changing wet bedding quickly. If a bedsore has already formed, a nurse should dress it.
Can elder care be given 24 hours a day?
Yes. See our 24-hour aya service.
