A hospital male attendant stays with a patient on the ward so they are never left without help. Families usually ask for one when the patient is a man, when the patient needs lifting, or when nobody in the family can stay overnight.
What a hospital male attendant does
- Stays at the bedside for the shift you choose, day or night
- Helps the patient to the toilet, or with the urinal and bedpan
- Lifts and repositions the patient, and helps them sit up and walk when allowed
- Helps with meals and drinks
- Calls the ward nurse the moment something is wrong
- Collects reports or medicines from the hospital pharmacy when asked
The hospital's own nurses and doctors continue to give all medical care. Check the hospital's rules on private attendants before the first shift. When the patient is discharged, the same kind of help is available at home: see male attendant at home.
How to arrange a hospital male attendant
- Call or WhatsApp +91 90513 20961. Tell us the hospital and ward, the patient's condition, and whether you need days, nights or both. The phone is answered around the clock by the people who will actually arrange the caregiver.
- We suggest who to send. If what you describe needs a nurse rather than an aya, or an attendant rather than either, we will say so.
- Shift and rate are agreed first. Shifts of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 24 hours are available, and you know the cost before anyone is sent.
- The caregiver comes to you, often the same day, and we check back to make sure the match is working.
Common questions
Can you send someone tonight?
Call and ask. Night shifts are often the most urgent requests, and we will tell you honestly what we can arrange and when.
Do we pay the hospital or you?
You pay us for the attendant. Any hospital pass or attendant fee is separate and set by the hospital.
What if the patient needs a female caregiver?
Ask for a hospital aya instead, or both together if the patient also needs lifting.
