Some physiotherapy treatments use equipment as well as exercise and hands-on work. Our physiotherapists bring portable units to home sessions where the treatment calls for them, so patients in Sonarpur and south Kolkata can have them without travelling to a clinic.
Equipment used in home sessions
- TENS and electrotherapy units: mild electrical stimulation used to ease pain and help muscles work
- Ultrasound therapy: used on soft-tissue injuries, stiff joints and some kinds of pain
- Supports and braces: such as knee braces, used as the physiotherapist advises
Whether equipment is used, and which, is the physiotherapist's decision after assessing the patient. Electrotherapy is not suitable for everyone; it is avoided, for example, with some heart conditions and pacemakers, so tell the physiotherapist about the patient's full medical history.
Physiotherapy at home
Equipment is one part of treatment. For the full home physiotherapy service, see physiotherapist at home. To ask whether a unit can be arranged for use between sessions, call the centre.
How to arrange physiotherapy
- Call or WhatsApp +91 90513 20961. Tell us the condition and whether any equipment has been recommended by a doctor or physiotherapist. The phone is answered around the clock by the people who will actually arrange the caregiver.
- We suggest who to send. If what you describe needs a nurse rather than an aya, or an attendant rather than either, we will say so.
- Shift and rate are agreed first. Shifts of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 24 hours are available, and you know the cost before anyone is sent.
- The caregiver comes to you, often the same day, and we check back to make sure the match is working.
Common questions
Can we rent physiotherapy equipment?
Call and ask. Whether a unit can be arranged for use between sessions depends on the equipment and the patient's treatment plan.
Is electrotherapy safe?
It is widely used and safe for most patients when a physiotherapist decides it is suitable. It is not used with certain conditions, including some pacemakers, so share the full medical history.
Do I have to use equipment to get physiotherapy?
No. Most physiotherapy is exercise and hands-on treatment. Equipment is added only where it helps.
